I saw him standing at the edge of a cliff, a step away from goodbye
And everyone else just waited and looked, thinking that he was trying to fly
Oh, they never saw, they never cared, how often his tears had fallen
He’s just another guy on the edge and they never knew he was dying

But I’ve heard him say all the words they didn’t want to hear
They ignored all the signs that would bring out all their fears, and he said

“This smile is broken and no one wants to hear me cry
Remember to forget, they say, without asking me why
All these pretending, too tired hiding on plain sight
Been strong too long, no one sees how weak I am inside
And when I’m gone, I’ll just be another goodbye
And they will still say that I had lived before I died”
